AlgalWatch is a global citizen science project created to support the Cruz-Rivera Lab in monitoring marine ecosystems. Through a simple app interface, people from all over the world can help document algae blooms and invasive marine species, particularly sargassum, spotted along shorelines, beaches, or floating in open waters.
Your observations — including photos, location, date, and notes — become part of a valuable, real-time dataset used by marine scientists to detect environmental threats, track ecological patterns, and inform research efforts.
