Together, we're building a global wave of awareness — one observation at a time.
Your marine observations fuel real marine science research.
AlgalWatch is a simple, user-friendly app designed for citizen scientists to support the Cruz-Rivera Lab in monitoring and researching marine ecosystems.
The app empowers individuals across the globe to record and share observations of algae blooms and invasive marine species, particularly sargassum found along shores, beaches, or floating patches in open seas.
Users can easily upload photos, tag the location with GPS, note the date and time, and add brief descriptions of their findings. This collaborative effort helps scientists track ecological changes, detect environmental threats early, and contribute to global marine conservation projects and marine biology research.
